We publish below our (now annual) profiles of a selection of recently appointed KCs.

I am delighted to be able to publish below our annual profiles of a selection of recently appointed KCs. These profiles have been published for nearly ten years now in order to celebrate the increasingly diverse backgrounds and experiences of those appointed to silk. We define diversity broadly in these profiles, not just reflecting those characteristics protected by law but also diversity of family background and of geographical location, as well as applicants who have pursued niche specialisms within the law and those who have pursued varied and interesting careers before turning to law.

We are heartened by feedback – including from those profiled – that these profiles have inspired advocates to see that the accolade of KC is for ‘people like me’, sometimes tipping the balance in their decision to apply for silk. I hope that you enjoy reading the stories of these inspiring new KCs.

Monisha Shah, Chair of the KC Selection Panel

Cameron Crowe KC
Gough Square Chambers, London

Cameron Crowe KC

Cameron Crowe KC specialises in regulatory law with an emphasis on consumer law, associated fraud, health and safety, fire safety, food safety and product safety. He represents clients in his specialism in some of the most significant and high-profile cases in both criminal and civil jurisdictions. He was born in the US to a British mother and Native American father. Following the break-up of his parents’ marriage when he was 3 years old, Cameron came back to the UK with his mother and three sisters. Very sadly their mother became ill shortly thereafter, and Cameron was taken into local authority care.

Flora Page KC
23ES Chambers, London

Flora Page KC

Flora Page KC is a Londoner through and through. She grew up in Angel Islington, which when she was young was rather more down-to-earth than the trendy place it has become over the past few decades. Flora attended a tough inner city London Comprehensive school, Islington Green – the students sang on the famous Pink Floyd song “Another Brick In The Wall” in 1980 (a few years before Flora started at the school). Flora’s mum had a career in politics and urban planning, and her dad was a journalist. Flora studied History at University College, London (UCL). Her pathway to the Bar was not “a straight career course,” says Flora.

Naomi Madderson KC
Crown Chambers, Hull

Naomi Madderson KC

When Naomi Madderson was appointed King’s Counsel in 2025, she became both the first female silk in Hull and the first family law silk ever appointed in the region. It was a landmark moment, both personally and professionally. For Naomi, this honour was not merely an accolade but a profound responsibility. She spoke with deep humility of the women who came before her, those who challenged barriers and opened doors for others that led her to this moment: “To follow in their footsteps is a huge privilege and a great responsibility,” she reflects.

Sheila Ahuja KC - A&O Shearman, Singapore

Sheila Ahuja KC - A&O Shearman, Singapore

Sheila Ahuja KC would have preferred not to have been the sole solicitor-advocate appointed to KC in 2015 (alongside 104 barristers) as it meant that she had no-one she could “just call to ask how do you plan to navigate this or that aspect of being a brand-new silk.” Sheila is an arbitration specialist based in Singapore, although she works out of Hong Kong (her place of birth and where she has since been appointed Deputy Judge in the High Court) a fair amount of the time.
